About

What is The Screenplay Factory?

(Previously known as Sighthound Studio)

It’s where new and emerging screenwriters have been coming since 2013
to learn the art and science of writing professional-quality screenplays.

“The Screenplay Factory” was originally just a nickname that we used to describe the entire film industry.

We’ve since adopted the name for our new brand because this is where people come to learn the trade - to learn how to work at “The Screenplay Factory” (the film and television industry). Our SCREENWRITER’S TRAINING PROGRAM is very much like the type of training that you’d receive before starting to work at a big, industrial factory. You’ll achieve a deeper understanding of screenwriting and you’ll develop the skills to write timely, effective, marketable, and moving stories that industry professionals want to produce.

No, we don’t build screenplays, WE BUILD SCREENWRITERS, and we teach everything you’ll need to find success as a working professional - or perhaps to just enjoy a new hobby!

If you want to learn, but you’re intimidated or don’t know where to start, please reach out and start a friendly conversation. We’ll never push or “sell” you on any of our services and genuinely want to help you achieve whatever screenwriting goals you may have. So … WELCOME! And please let us know what we can do for YOU!

Jordan Christopher Morris

Writer/Producer/Director/Actor/ Screenwriting Coach aka “The Screenwriter Igniter”

Born and raised in London, Ontario, Canada (aka The Forest City), Jordan is an award-winning producer and director of films like Nintendo Quest and multiple festival Best Documentary winner, Missing Mom. He has also worked on numerous films as an actor, production designer, art director, fabricator, location scout, set decorator, and screenwriter.

Jordan is a writer/producer/screenwriting coach living in Ontario, Canada with a reputation for being a friendly, disarming and genuinely invested ally who loves to help writers achieve their goals. Specifically, he teaches new and emerging writers from all backgrounds and skill levels to find their voice and target personally resonant stories using a comfortable process they can depend on for the rest of their lives.

"FIND YOUR VOICE, TELL YOUR STORIES, HAVE FUN DOING IT".

He uses a radical new story model called THE LIFE AND DEATH STORY MODEL to teach his story architecture principles and uses a process known as THE STORY FORGE to help clients distil and perfect their story concepts before attempting to write them, making the arduous task of writing a screenplay (or book) much faster, easier and more enjoyable.

Career

He was active in live theatre for a decade, initially as an actor, but quickly took an interest in all aspects of production, eventually learning on the job as a costume, prop, and set designer, writer, producer, and ultimately, director.

Due to his history as an actor, he was asked to audition for an independent film in 2012, and landed a small role in the production. But, after solving a serious problem with a key prop by hand-building a replacement overnight, he was then asked to become the film's Production Designer and eventually a Producer as well - and that’s where his film career began!

Next, he was the Production Designer on the 2014 film Tapped Out starring Hollywood actor Michael Biehn, which to date is the largest film ever shot in his hometown.

Following a string of documentaries and docu-series, he worked as the lead Development Executive with Creative Dynamic in Chicago, creating short unscripted series exclusively for a streaming platform.

Most recently, Jordan co-wrote, produced, and appeared on-screen as an interview subject in MR. DRESSUP: THE MAGIC OF MAKE-BELIEVE,
a feature-length documentary on the history and cultural impact of Canada’s most beloved TV show ever, Mr Dressup.

The film, an exciting co-production with CBC Canada, Marble Media, and Amazon Studios has the complete support of both Judith Lawrence (who created and performed the puppet characters of Casey & Finnegan) and the estate of Ernie Coombs (who was, of course, Mr Dressup).

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to a standing ovation, received the coveted TIFF People’s Choice Documentary Award, and has since won several other accolades such as the Best Documentary Award at Sudbury’s Cinefest Festival.

The film was released worldwide on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming platform and was ranked as high as #2 worldwide in its first week of release.

He previously collaborating with the Forest City Film Festival in various capacities over the years including as producer of their Industry Sessions, numerous times as an event host/guest panel moderator, and most often as organizer and judge of their popular Pitchfest and screenwriting competitions
